ACA Health Insurance Marketplace® Information & Updates

I'm Jen (of Jensurance) and I want to welcome you to my blog. I am no longer selling insurance due to the changes in the ACA, Medicaid, and Medicare resulting from the One Big Bullshit Bill Act. I will not represent brands (insurance companies) or sell products (current insurance plans) that I can't stand behind or believe in so that leaves me out of the insurance game now. However, I'm a forever advocate of the ACA as well as health/health insurance literacy so I'm going to attempt to keep this site up for as long as I can afford it, both financially and emotionally, as an educational resource.

I did have information here about my upcoming e-book but that has also been put on hold indefinitely because, just like with my website and my past blog entries, there are going to be updates needed to every single page and that's going to be a slow process as I am the one and only content creator, webmaster, blog writer, and SEO manager. Keep checking back and I'll keep doing my best to provide true information in the midst of the ocean of misinformation currently flooding our country and our minds.

Health Insurance Alternatives: Direct Primary Care (DPC)

With so many people in a very vulnerable position facing losing their Marketplace coverage, there is no shortage of unscrupulous individuals popping up and misleading consumers by selling what they claim to be "alternatives" to traditional health insurance. This is dangerous territory as they're happy to sell you what they say is a bargain but what you will probably find is simply a frustrating and costly disappointment. Not all of the alternative offerings are scams and some people are very happy with them. Your best defense is to be prepared by knowing what to watch out for when looking for affordable care options.

So many of us are struggling due to the expiring subsidies and massive premium and deductible increases and these "alternatives" are so appealing. My Alternative Health Plans: Scam or Bargain? series is here to help, even if in just a small way, by arming you with information. I detail red flags to look for, potential drawbacks from different types of plans/programs, and the perks of some of the better options. The introductory post gives a general overview of the most common types of alt health plans being relentlessly marketed right now and the following installments of the series dive deep into each of those types. Today I'm happy to present Part 4: Direct Primary Care (DPC)

I find this to be the most tempting of the "alternatives". It's not the right fit for me with my chronic conditions, but it could be right for you or someone you know. Click on the link below to read all about it and decide for yourself. The other 3 parts of the series are available below (Intro, Short-Term Plans, and Health Care Sharing Ministries). Make sure to at least skim over those, too, so you can go forth and make informed choices. I wish everyone the best. This is so hard but we will all get through it. Just hang on tight. At least we're in it together.
